BIM Intermediate Course

BIM is an acronym for Building Information Modelling. Early on the term BIM was used to distinguish information rich architectural 3D modelling from traditional 2D drawing. The use of the term BIM has become widespread and has started to evolve. BIM still refers to Building Information Modelling, but now also includes the coordination of these highly descriptive Models within the AEC industry (Architecture, Engineering and Construction).

Following on from the BIM Introductory course, this course aims to show, through the use of ArchiCAD’s Virtual Building Software, how to add extra information to your Basic BIM Model.

We look at techniques involved in creating Site Terrain from Surveyors files and carrying out height in relation to Boundary studies.  We look at creating multi-storey projects and examine Cadimage Tools Stair Builder to get from storey to storey.  With the use of ArchiCAD’s powerful scheduling tools we create a Joiners Door & Window Schedule and various Area and Element Schedules.

We look deeper into 2D & 3D drawing presentation with Image Fills and Materials.  We create Sun Studies, Shadow Plans and interactive Virtual Building Explorer (VBE) models.

We also look at some ArchiCAD Attributes, setting up Layer Combinations, Pen Sets and Line Types plus how to create basic GDL objects.

By the end of the course attendees should be able to successfully create a BIM in ArchiCAD and produce working drawings from it.

Courses take place in Auckland, Wellington & Christchurrch over two days - 8.30am to 4.00pm each day.

Morning & afternoon teas included.

Cost is $695.00 plus GST per person (less 50% ARCHICADselect member discount)
